Lex in this movie was perfect in my opinion. He was crazy inteligent and his deep hatred for Superman was showing. I guess in the comics he isn't supposed to be a phsyco but it's more realistic like this. I mean how are you supposed to put a whole city and possibly the earth in danger for no profit if you are mentaly stable?

I remember not being able to watch the theatrical cut because we had no theaters in my country, so me and my friends just waited for the ultimate edition and watched it instead of the theatrical cut. We thought it was amazing and everything made sense in it. We were confused when we read some of the reviews that said it was a bad movie but then realized that they were talking about the theatrical cut.

I only saw the Ultimate Edition, once it came out on Blu Ray. I was pretty pleased with it overall and did not like Lex Luthor and Doomsday. Lex seemed like a character from another movie and Doomsday looked like a cave troll on steroids. And because I'm a wuss I also hated that they felt the need to kill Supes. Like, even I knew he was gonna come back. I did not need him dying to give emotional weight to the 3 superheroes fighting that ugly thing. Me not seeing the theatrical version led to me not understanding why everyone was so harshly criticising the movie. à propos Snyder Cut, I am interested in the actual movie, but I did not appreciate how the director Snyderjacked Henry Cavill's moment by releasing Superman pics while The Witcher was premiering.

Sorry, guys. I couldn't stand either version of the movie. Same pretentious approach, same "look how adult I am" vibe, only more insufferable by yet another 31 minutes. And Snyder's comments about how anyone who doesn't like his movies are just children who *"live in a fuckin' dream world"* are definitely not helping.

I’ve been telling people how much better “Batman v Superman: Ultimate Edition” is than the theatrical cut! I loved “Man of Steel”, from how we saw Krypton and their alien culture and we see a young Clark getting overwhelmed by his x-ray vision and super-hearing, and hands-down, the BEST Superman fight scenes ever filmed! While “BvS” wasn’t as good as “Man of Steel” in my opinion, it was in no way as bad as so many critics say. And I had never cared or really paid any attention to Wonder Woman but her introduction in “BvS” made me wake up and go “Wow! Wonder Woman is a bad ass!”. That moment in the Doomsday fight where she gets knocked back and has that smirk and you know she’s enjoying combat. And in that Doomsday fight she really showed that she was powerful enough to hang with Superman So for me, “BvS: Ultimate Edition” is at least a 3.5-4 stars out of 5 for me.

My only problem with the Snyder cut, and granted is philosophical, is that it's not really going to be Snyder's original vision. They have had the opportunity to see all the feedback from the original release and can now tailor this cut to specifically please the audience. We live in strange times where Sonic the Hedgehog could be redone prior to releasing the film, Cats can have a version 1.5 half way through its theatrical run, and it's not that long ago that Kevin Spacey was recast in a movie after it had finished filming - and all were understandable decisions, and probably were to the benefits of the audience, (or at least not to the penalty), but its anything finished? In fairness there have always been directors cuts, Lucas couldn't leave Star Wars alone, Blade Runner had approximately 5,892 different versions. So it's not exactly a new issue. However, they usually worked with what was originally created, putting in and taking out pieces. With the Snyder cut, they're filming new bits years later, there's effectively a new script in being written, and the whole thing will be longer as I understand it, because they're splitting it over at least two episodes. Thing is, I sound like I'm moaning but really I'm pondering, like I said it's a philosophical issue - in reality, I'm really looking forward to seeing it, because it can learn from the feedback of its predecessor it should be impactful, deep, engrossing and fun. I'm not a huge fan of Snyder's storytelling - I'm still sore there's no giant fake alien squids in Watchmen, Sucker Punch is frustrating, Man of Steel is choppy and feels out of context - but visually the guy can pull off some of the most awe inspiring images, combined with a better audience tested story? The Snyder cut should be all around awesome, rather than a fun but almost parody of the preceding films we got in Whedons version. We live in interesting times, for Movie goers, (and in just about every other way it seems)

I watched the ultimate edition and was genuinely shocked at how much more everything made sense and how good it was. I went to look at people's reviews and they were giving it 6-7/10 but to me I thought the ultimate edition was at least 7.5/8. Glad you watched it. Also watching JLU as a kid, and seeing the atrocious portrayal of Lex Luthor in the movie made me not ever want to rewatch it. Honestly what a travesty.

Yes the ultimate addition is better, but I still have issued with Snyder fundamentally not getting the Superman character and his world, he put a bullet in Jimmy Olson's skull for fuck sake and i don't care if he felt bad after, snapping Zods neck, is still a issue with me. You can say the S stands for hope all you want, but show don't tell, and yeah Snyder is epic and filming the Super, i just think he lacks on the man part.

On the topic of Lex Author. While I understand the portrayal wasn't exactly the classical depiction of Lex Lurthor, there is some realism to the character that makes him not only authentic but dangerous. Think about it, the guy is weird, eccentric and may have a predisposition to an anti social personality. Does that remind you of some other modern day CEOs? (looking at you Mark Zuckerberg/Steve Jobs/Jeff Bezoz) some of these guys are not exactly... Normal and that can be off putting. Perhaps the reaction we have towards the character is what we're supposed to have and I imagine even the characters wouldn't take him seriously. This would allow him to pull the strings in the background with barely anyone noticing. It might have served the film better if the film played up that mystery in order to make the character more menacing.

I actually felt the Martha scene was a good concept, but it just needed to be executed better cause the scene did come off a bit awkward. He basically viewed Superman as an inhuman alien monster and had no problem taking his life away cause of this. Him seeing he has a mother he cares for made him snap out of his rage and realize he is as human as anyone else. This "thing" has mother like Batman had a mother. Batman never would've thought this alien would have a human mother. Superman mentioning "Martha" wasn't the reason Batman decided not to kill him. If anything it pissed him off more cause he thought Superman was trying to trick him. It wasn't until Lois told him "It's his mother", that made him not kill him. Him having a mother humanized him to Batman, who right before this, told Superman: "You were never even a man". Batman realized he was about to kill a person, not a monster, which is why he throws the spear away in disgust. Also, Batman not killing at all in this movie would've made that scene (or the concept of the scene) more impactful.

Күн мурун
OnlyRoke
OnlyRoke

I still don't get why "Martha" is so controversial. Like, Batman is fuckin' nuts. He has a contingency plan for every Justice League member if they ever go rogue and he even made his own contingency plan in case the League has to stop him and it involves messing with the grave and the corpses of his parents, because that would stop Batman from being the pathological planner and just become an irrational dude who will slip up and make mistakes. Throughout the film, Batman's the most brilliant detective in the world who is SO blinded by hate and rage that he cannot see the simplest connections that lead to Lex Luthor. He's so delusional that he has to be snapped back to reality by literally hearing the name of his dead mother. That would've also happened if he heard "Thomas". It's also not outlandish to assume that Clark Kent, Fucking SUPERMAN, is aware of who Batman really is. It's very possible to assume that Superman has looked into this sordid history and that he sees the patterns of a broken billionaire boy who becomes a vengeful bat because mommy and daddy bit the dust.

The ultimate edition is substantially better than the theatrical version because it actually gives context to things that didn't make sense when it played in theaters. Eisenberg is still annoying as Lex Luthor, but the added scenes show off his cunning and backhanded-ness. Plus the set up and pay off of the flamethrower in the warehouse scene is great. Still wish they would have held off on introducing Doomsday but how else were they supposed to have a bombastic action set piece to set up JL. Having watched BVS Ultimate and Watchmen's Director's Cut, it's clear that WB consistently lacks faith in Zack Snyder when he has proven himself to be a competent filmmaker if left to his own devices. Can't wait to see his original vision for Justice League finally released.
