The relevant equation isn't so much F = ma as momentum = force * time. The impact occurs in very little time, hence large force.

I have yet to watch this video, but let me add my two cents in for anyone considering purchasing one of these units. It is nothing more than a miniaturized version of an evaporative cooler (swamp cooler). Simple science, and simple mechanism: there is a water reservoir, a pump that carries water to a pad of some sort to keep the pad saturated with water, and there's a fan which sucks air in some side (some units have intake on multiple sides, but this miniature one likely only has one), and then pulls or pushes the air through the wet pad and finally out of the exhaust vent. The air being forced through the wet pad is what provides the cooling effect. Now, with that being said, these evaporative coolers only work in areas with incredibly low humidity, typically under approximately 25% in order to detect any additional cooling than what the fan in these units could produce running dry. Once the humidity starts to rise above 25-30%, they begin to lose most of their effectiveness. If you're cooling air by moistening it, then there will be a threshold where the air is initially too wet to lower its temperature by forcing it through a wet pad. If you live in an arid area (i.e. - southwestern U.S.), then you are likely already familiar with evaporative coolers for they cost significantly less to run than Air Conditioning, and are easily maintained. Now, one of these small units in a small room will provide some cooling when aimed directly at a person, but by no means do they cool off a room as advertised . . . I believe the advertisement claims down to 65° F which I'm positive they employed some nice trickery in order to produce such results in testing to legally claim such results in an advertisement, because most regular consumers using this product in ideal conditions would say that statement is utter horseshit! In conclusion, if you are not already familiar with evaporative coolers, then it is likely because you live in a region where they simply do not function well, if they function at all. If that is the case, and you have been considering purchasing this product, DO NOT BUY IT!!! You'd be better off buying a fan for the same price. Obviously, if you are familiar with evaporative cooling, you still shouldn't buy one if you don't live in an arid region, but you should already be aware of that. If you do live in an arid area, and you are interested in one of these units, then I will state that they work to a degree, but nowhere near the 65° F that they claim. It will cool you off slightly if it is blowing on you, but do not expect to cool an entire room . . . and of course, do not expect it to do much during monsoon season when the humidity rises.

TA and Love's are the giveaway that the "business travelers" in question were not the "guys in suits" of which the term normally conjures up images. Truck drivers - the core market of truck stops, oddly enough - would typically be hundreds or even thousands of miles away from the "rental store" after 2 days. They were, and probably still are, _tremendous_ fans of Redbox because it's so very convenient for them. Simply take the disc with you when you go back to the store to use the restroom and grab some coffee before starting your "day"! It's no coincidence that the rental machines are located indoors, along the direct path between the doors and either the showers, restrooms, or coffee counters, in most truck stops that I've visited. The additional revenue from _convenience_ outweighs the loss of valuable retail space - even window space! - to a machine that would be more readily located outdoors.

I had two similar UK variant machines, first on a switcher, then a quad box... the VCR's had master and slave modes, and the slave took it's date/ time info from the master so the timestamps would be in synch - they also had programmable timer recording, so a longer unattended recording was possible, having one unit come on when the other was due to end. Sadly the entire lot went in the recycling about 6 months ago. I'd have liked to keep them just "because" but storage space is a bit short here!

Light systems aren't clever enough. I can't tell you how many times they've stopped cars for... Nobody. That's right. Sometimes I'm driving, a light ahead turns yellow (one I've seen for a while) and who's the light on the perpendicular road turning green for? Nobody. There was never anybody there. Not even somebody that turned right. Traffic signal systems are severely flawed and it's beyond frustrating. :\
